New release: improved import and export
New update release, with special emphasis on import and export features.
Share active stories
Now there’s no need to wait until the end of a story to ask for feedback. Users can share their whole active story or just a specific chapter. This is especially helpful with communities like Reddit, where users share their stories and ask for feedback.
Reactivate stories from the Library
Now any story in the Library can be moved to active so users can continue writing. This is especially useful if you started a story somewhere else and want to continue it in the app.
Third-party import
Importing third-party MD and EPUB content is no longer marked as experimental.
It is important to note that Drafty Story is not a text editor, and it is not and never will be meant to replace one. It is about writing forward, embracing what has been written as history, even if it contains mistakes or ideas you no longer want to progress with. It is about the idea that a draft is meant to be written that way, as it is more important to iterate over a written story than it is to stare at a blank screen.
This app has intentional design and features meant to support those ideas. For instance, there could be an import directly into active stories, but that is not what that space is meant for. Allowing users to move stories from the Library into the Home screen is about giving users freedom to deviate from the original path without interfering with focus. Similarly, some writing assistance features have been added (disabled by default), despite not fitting the original goal of keeping the user focused, because some languages have accents and special characters that are impractical for manual typing.
In the end, Drafty Story is a tool. You can use a hammer to cut wood, but that’s certainly not the best experience.
